The time we went was the holiday season so I really enjoyed the activities and festivities they had hosted everyday. There was always something happening to keep the guests engaged.
I learned this later but, Kuramathi is one of the oldest and largest resort in Maldives which was great as there were so many spaces to explore.
There are baby sharks that come around the shallow waters which is pretty awesome.
We had our outgoing flight much later in the night and they helped us store our luggage and introduced us to a tour guide who took us around so we didn’t just have to sit around the airport for 8+ hours.
Would recommend anyone with a family or a couple to go as it’s friendly for all.
Also side note the hazelnut ice cream was the best ice cream I’ve ever had.
The hotel offers an exceptional experience, with superb service and a unique ambiance. The buffet is fantastic, offering a wide variety of cuisines every day.
However, there are a few points worth mentioning:
• The breakfast quality doesn’t quite match the excellent standards of lunch and dinner. Additionally, for a five-star hotel, one would expect more coffee options, such as a coffee machine that prepares lattes or mochas.
• Considering the cost of the stay, snorkeling equipment should not incur daily rental fees—insurance fees would be more reasonable.
• The spa services are significantly overpriced.
• Pillow options are quite limited, and the default ones may not suit everyone’s comfort needs.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience was memorable, and the stunning location truly adds to its charm.
Big island with lush vegetation, amazing palm trees and banana trees.
Amazing staff, couldn’t do more to please us
We were select all inclusive and dined around, loved island barbecue, the reef (deserts are AMAZING) and siam.
The lagoon side of the island was great for swimming, the reef side for snorkeling. Great house reef
Took a turtle discovery trip and saw 5 turtles
Drank more cocktails than in my whole life - highly recommend chocolate pleasure
Literally cried when we left
Highly highly recommend it
The accommodation exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a Superior Beach Villa with Jacuzzi, which was spacious, tastefully designed, and few steps away from turquoise waters.
The dining options were exceptional, with a variety of cuisines to choose from. Each restaurant had its own unique ambiance, and the quality of food was outstanding. The all-inclusive package made it easy to indulge without worry. We opted not to go for the all-inclusive select because of our little one.
Kuramathi also offers a wide range of activities. We thoroughly the Semi - Submarine excursion where we encountered incredible marine life, including turtles, and colourful fish. We also did the sunset cruise which was really fanstastic and saw some dolphins. Lastly, we visited Rasdhoo Island to experience the local island life and shop for souvenirs from local shops.

The spa experience was another highlight. The therapists were skilled, and the treatments left us feeling completely relaxed. The setting, overlooking the ocean, added to the serenity. The staff at the kids club who look after our little one were amazing, this allowed us to truly enjoyed our excursions without any worry.
What truly sets Kuramathi apart is the staff. Every team member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and committed to ensuring our stay was perfect.
Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or simply a break from the hustle of daily life, Kuramathi Maldives is a dream destination. We can’t wait to return!
My only criticism was that Kuramathi no longer offers complementary Dolphin cruises, the all inclusive had reduced a bit, there were far fewer buggy rides available despite 6 or 7 buggies permanently parked up and I was left with the impression that Kuramathi felt like it was successful enough and didn't have to try so hard anymore. We didn't see anybody from senior management at all. This compared unfavourably against Dhigali where we stayed the week before. Complementary bottles of spirits and wine in our rooms, two free boat trips, bar service on the beaches, great snorkelling all around the island and free quality flip flops in the rooms. We met the senior management team 2 or 3 times around the island and we all left feeling like all the staff were so keen to make this the best holiday ever. Don't get this wrong, we all loved Kuramathi but I don't think we will come back again after seeing other options.
I felt like a truly island girl , i even got myself in the full moon night at the sea , it was a really lovely moment 🩷
i never want to leave but here we go , leaving tomorrow at 14:30 😞
There are not so many words needed to describe the paradise Kuramathi 💞
We had the best stay ever and we definitely will come back - very soon 💖 Thank you to all of you! Best service, best place, best people, best food, best accommodation, best memories 💝

It was amazing to bask in the sun and enjoy this spectacle from our own villa.
Exploring the island revealed a commitment to the environment, with lush vegetation and crystal-clear beaches. The variety of dining experiences, from Island Barbeque to Palm restaurant, showcased amazing culinary diversity. The island's facilities, including a well-equipped gym, three swimming pools, and a spa, are top-notch.
The Sandbank experience was a highlight, offering a secluded spot for breathtaking sunsets and a unique perspective on the beauty of the Maldives. Kuramathi Maldives etched an unforgettable chapter in our travel diary, creating a fantastic blend of luxury and natural beauty. Amazing experience!
What a stunningly beautiful place to spend 10 days.
The island, the accommodation, the restaurants and service, all top notch.
We ate in a different restaurant each night and were blown away with the quality of food and care taken to ensure you had the best time. No restaurant was full to ensure that the staff could maximise that personal touch.
The benches surrounding the island are white soft sand, all with incredible views. You will spot several small sharks swimming around, but they are small and do not bother you. I managed to get on film a shark no more than 1 metre away from me as I was snorkelling.
If you go to the beaches at night, you can watch the crabs going about their business. Just keep a watch out for the sand flies.
Yes, I do want to go back, and one day, I will.
We traveled to Kuramathi for our honeymoon in December. We were extremely happy with our beach villa, the amenities and the cleaning, beach was really close.
The whole island was super clean, the hydroponic garden was fascinating to see and it is great it is open for public. Everyone from the staff you meet smiles at you and greets you and it does feel really genuine, like they are really happy to have you.
The island is 1,5km long, so you can always walk around or go for a jog and won't get bored in one place. The gym and tennis court are also nice and free of charge. The swimming pool next to Laguna bar has around 25m so it is very decent for a swim, plus there are two more pools.
The selection of all inclusive cocktails is endless, the staff is always smiling and very professional. The food in our main restaurant was delicious and the dessert buffet was a piece of art, we also loved the live stations with pasta, meat, roast etc.
In the evening there was always some event but we couldn't get enough of the local band, both of the singers were amazing.
Sunset cruise and trip to neighboring island was also a nice add on.
You can see that all the buildings, bars, restaurants were designed carefully and with style and are very well maintained, which you don't see often. We were getting this new and fresh vibe everywhere, nothing was shabby.
The house reef was nice with good entrance to the water, the sea life was very rich. We were diving too and the dive center team was also very professional.
Only thing that spoils the beauty a bit are the wave breakers around the island, but I guess that is inevitable.
When I compare Kuramathi with another Maldives resort I visited (slightly more expensive), Kuramathi totally wins. To sum up:
+ Amazing food, super wide selection
+ Well maintained buildings, no sign of aging, attention to detail
+ Great evening program,
+ Super friendly staff, always ready to go the extra mile
Just a few suggestions:
- Paid kayaks and paddle boards - the other place offered free 60 min daily
- Not many "Instagram spots" that can be a good advertisement for the resort - like a swing in the water at the sand bank etc
ACCOMMODATION
First stay was at a simple Beach Villa, their cheapest room, but we were pleasantly surprised that the room was spectacular, super welcoming, and comfortable! Great bed, amenities, and quality craftsmanship. German! Also loved the daybeds and extra sofas. Awesome all around. 10/10
Second stay was at their classic Water Villa, the cheapest of the water villas but it too was simply amazing. Well made and maintained, we had direct access to the water from there. Note that you'll be facing the coral side of the island, so you may snorkel around there! To round off the night, we enjoyed the included jacuzzi. Simply awesome! 10/10
FOOD
In terms of food, you'll be assigned to one of the 3 buffet restaurants. We tried all though since one of the waiters suggested it. Allow me to say that EVERYTHING was delicious and we always looked forward to trying everything. What mostly stood out was their desserts. My God, well made, not too sweet, and always coming back for more! 10/10
LOCATION
Probably the best island in the Maldives. It's HUGE! We were in Hulhumale and Maafushi days prior, but this large, private island literally will take you 45 mins to get from one end to the other. Lots to do and a ton of nature. Snorkeling is fun too as there is a lot of marine life around at their House Reef. It's similar to Boracay, Philippines. What is especially amazing is the sand bank at the west end. Simply breathtaking and worth visiting. We went twice. A relaxing theme park for adults and kids alike.
STAFF
My God, where do I start? We have met so many amazing people that we simply had to tip them all. Super friendly and genuinely love doing their jobs. Shout out to all these amazing people: Riyaaz, Hisham, Fifi, Zaidheen, Kumar, Ifram, Bhupal, Azmee, Fareed, Shafeeu and two more. Kindness and willingness to make our trip special was their goal. This also included the many random staff roaming around, always welcoming us with a smile.
STUFF TO DO
Although we went there during Monsoon Season, and that we just wanted to relax, there is a lot to do on the island. Be it the several restaurants and bars to hang out at. Be it the eco center and its many activities available. Or if you're experienced, diving to see the best Maldives has to offer, I believe that whoever is into that will also have an amazing time. Though we didn't experience the activities, aside from swimming, we will definitely be back during Dry Season! We know its worth it.
That being said, this was the most memorable place we've been at thus far. Recommend to all honeymooners, families, and divers alike. Again, 10/10.
Cons:
1. When I was playing music, in my room, the staff came and said, please lower (which is fine, and I did lower). But he also said that Indians in a different room were also playing loud music last night. I don't think there is a need to mention this and if mentioned, not needed to add "Indians" here as it appeared to be stereotyping.
2. When checking out at the main reception, none of my cards worked. I was willing to pay cash and I did pay in Euro and INR (with whatever conversion rate they asked). But the person handling it asked, “why did you not come last night?” in a very condescending way as if I intend to not pay. I had gone to the Athiri reception the previous night and the cards didn't work there as well. The representative at the Athiri reception himself told me that I could clear the receipts at the main reception the next day while checking out.
The point to be noted is that I met many wonderful staff there as well. But hospitality is paramount in a 5-star resort, and I was surprised to see such behaviour.
3. I felt there's a bias based on the country you are from. Like I was put along with other people from my country (rooms). On the return journey in the speed boat, Indians were seated together. Even faced something similar with a buggy driver.
Pros:
1. Spread over 2kms, the resort has multiple hotspots to sit, relax, and enjoy the view.
2. A beautiful sandbank where land thins to tear apart the ocean
3. 12 restaurants and 6 bars where events like DJ, Sunset DJ, Live Music etc. are held
4. Kuramathi is more than a resort. It is an experience. I stayed here for 4 nights, and each night was equally exciting. After landing at Male, I went to the resort in a speed boat which took around 1.5 hours. The resort is roughly 60kms away from the airport. On arriving, the reception representative explained the package I was on. I had taken a basic all-inclusive package. It had the below:
Complimentary Sunset boat cruise with Pick-up & Drop facility
Complimentary Breakfast
Complimentary Lunch
Complimentary Dinner
Complimentary Food & Beverage Services where drinks included Soft Drinks/Alcohol/Beer/Juice/Wine/Tea or coffee/Mocktail/Cocktail.
Complimentary Port Transfers including Pick-up & Drop facility in Speedboat.
Water Sports activities such as Windsurfing/Snorkeling Equipment
We took the speedboat when we arrived however the weather was soo bad and it took us around 1 hour and 20 minutes to reach the island, so we hooked for seaplane for the departure that took 20 minutes to reach airport.
Staff is very friendly, our booking was full board " breakfast +lunch+dinner" only soft drinks , tea and black coffee will be included during food time. However if you will book the all inclusive you can have all types of drinks but for those who doesn't drink alcohol it is better to take full board and pay for the extra drinks.
Rude Staff, Massive Racism and Cheap Food Options.
Whole island is very beautiful..
every restaurant and bars on the island are very nicely maintained..
Loved the infinity pool concepts at all the places ..
Buggy service is prompt
I stayed here for 5 nights .3 nights on beach villa and 2 nights on water villa with pool
Beach villa is okish nothing special a very normal cottage
wheras there is a huge huge difference in the beach villa and the water villa but the price difference was not that much .. so either they can do something more bettr with beach villa or at least refuce prices significantly for the beach villas
There is a gud marine life meausum on the island which has a huge sperm whate vertebrae kept . amazing..
The sand bank is the unique tging on this island .. absolutely stunning and mesmerising
This island will not be a perfect one for professional divers as the reefs are not that good in expectations with maldives ..
Service side everything is great only issue i felt was they do not consider guests problem on sitting long hours on airport as on arrival also they made us wait for speed boat for 2 hrs and depature they sent us 6 hrs before our flight time ..
Knowing male airport is not good for waiting they should be more flexible on speed boat timings ..
It is around 80 minuets away from Male airport by speed boat (large one that already owned and served by the island resort itself). The boat travel provided by Kuramathi Resort is very pleasant and relaxing.
The island resort has unlimited beach sites and specially Sand Bank is worth to experience specially in evening time. Fish of several types can be seen from water villas or dedicated wooden water points from where tourists can view sea life.
Overall service is great at Kuramathi resort, only families with too young children can face daily mobility issues to resturant or some sightseeing places. Buggy service provided by restaurant can delay sometime specially is sunny hot season. But again if you want to enjoy island then must walk some on foot.
My overall rating for the island is 9 out of 10.
Thanks Kuramathi 💜
